Seven thousand square feet of board is around 241 sheets of four by eight, close to six tons of material, and roughly seventeen buckets of joint compound. It is a real delivery with a real schedule attached to it, not something to order the morning you want to hang.
Order in stages if the house is being built in stages. Board stacked flat on a subfloor for three weeks in a humid shell will take on moisture and the paper will show it, so material arriving close to when it goes up is better material.
Two thousand square feet is also where finish level becomes a line item worth naming in writing. A level 4 finish is standard for painted walls; level 5, which is a skim coat over the whole surface, costs materially more and is what you want under gloss paint or heavy raking light. Put whichever one you are quoting in the contract.

- Tape is figured at 380 linear feet per 1000 sq ft of board, screws at 32 per sheet for 16 inch on center framing.
- Longer sheets mean fewer butt joints, which is less taping and a flatter wall. Use 12 footers where they will fit through the door.
