What else matters here

Drywall scrap is bulky and heavy at the same time, which is the worst combination for disposal. Thirteen sheets worth of offcut fills a surprising amount of a dumpster, and the sanding dust that comes with it is fine enough to get everywhere in the house if it is not contained.
Some landfills also handle gypsum separately, because wet gypsum in a landfill produces hydrogen sulfide, and a few areas require clean drywall scrap to be separated for recycling. Worth one phone call before the job rather than an argument at the transfer station with a full trailer.

- Joint compound is figured at one 4.5 gallon bucket per 475 sq ft of board for a full three coat finish. A level 5 finish uses more.
- Tape is figured at 380 linear feet per 1000 sq ft of board, screws at 32 per sheet for 16 inch on center framing.
- Longer sheets mean fewer butt joints, which is less taping and a flatter wall. Use 12 footers where they will fit through the door.
