What else matters here
A thousand square feet is a whole small house or a full main floor, and at this size the waste allowance is a hundred square feet, which is real money. It is worth being honest about which figure applies: ten percent for straight runs through open rooms, fifteen or more once you are threading around cabinets, islands and closets.
Order it as one delivery, one batch, one dye lot. Splitting a thousand square feet across two orders is the single most common cause of a visible shade change halfway down a hallway, and it cannot be fixed afterwards without relaying the floor.
Count the transitions too. A floor this size crosses several doorways, and every one needs a threshold or a T molding. They are cheap, but they are also the thing that gets discovered missing on the last day.
What this calculator assumes
- 10 percent waste covers a straight lay in a simple rectangle. Go to 15 for a diagonal or herringbone lay, and 20 if the room is cut up with closets and angles.
- Buy the whole job in one delivery. Dye lot and batch shade move between production runs, and a single replacement box six months later will not match.
